Bayou City had 12 people recently go to Moldova to share the love of Jesus and the gospel message. It was an amazing opportunity to serve.
The team prayed, made plans, and prepared to serve hundreds of children. And God made His plans as well.
Days before they were to leave, Covid changed all the rules and they had four team members who were not able to go. The remaining eight on the team gathered all the supplies and prepared to leave. Hours before they were to leave, their flight was canceled. They rebooked on a different flight, and after 30+ hours of travel, landed in Moldova!
After meeting the Moldovan Team and the other American team they would be serving with, they had dinner and a four-hour drive. After a good night’s sleep, they were off to our first village. They were not sure who was blessed more, the Moldovans or the Americans. They got to share the love of Jesus and work with amazing Moldovan teenagers (Transitional Living Kids) who loved the Lord. Jonanthan Hill, who went on the trip, said, “Seeing the hunger, drive, and passion of the Transitional Living Kids (for Christ), how they enjoy what they do and were always having a great time. Seeing how we all can have a part to play in making a difference, whether it’s for one person or many, and how the Lord will use these kids to impact their country in the future is exciting!”
There were 21 Americans from five states (Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, New York, and Arizona) who served over 1,600 kids in 15 villages. The Transitional Living Kids presented a play at each village about the love of Jesus and told the story of Christ’s birth. An American with a translator gave the gospel message to each village. The team then gave out small gifts to each child in attendance. Over 24,000 small gifts were given away, including oranges, chocolates, pencils/pens, colors/coloring books, small toys, and many other small gifts. Laura Higginbotham, who was on the trip said, “After learning that so many of them (Transitional Living Kids) came from a background of nothing, to see the wholehearted joy they have and the dedication to serve the Lord. The Transitional Living Kids are giving back to the program that helped them gives me hope that people are being reached for God.”
After a heart-filled week of service, it was time to get Covid tested and head home. Our hearts sank as four of our Bayou City team tested positive. A hard decision was made to send half the team home and to have half the team stay. After staying for five days at the Bible League in Moldova, the remaining team came home after 40+ hours of travel.
We are so thankful to God for His plan and how He carried each of those on the team on this trip. Everyone who was on the trip was blessed and are ready to go again. Please consider joining the next Global Outreach team!
