Summer is here…will the Church go on vacation?

There are few things better than a well-timed vacation. Amanda loves the beach. I’m a mountain person myself. Or, we sometimes spend those precious vacation days visiting family back in Missouri. Everyone loves a vacation. With Memorial Day Weekend starting today, the summer unofficially begins. The question is will the church take a vacation too?

It’s an accepted fact that churches lose ground in the summer. Attendance drops. Volunteers cancel. Vision is put on hold. This is Bayou City Fellowship’s first summer and we don’t want to lose the ground God has so graciously given us. In fact, what if we defied history and actually advanced this summer?

The apostle Paul told Timothy to “be ready in season and out of season” (2 Tim 4:2). Summer is not typically the best season for church, but we want to stand ready. Ready to have conversations about Jesus. Ready to serve. Ready to invite. Ready to encourage. Ready to worship.

You may have summer plans that cause you to miss a Sunday or two. We totally understand. A vacation can be good for your family and your soul. But while you relax on the beach, the mountains, or in the living room of a family member, don’t relax your passion for Jesus and his church. Let’s gather ourselves. Serve the city. Build the church. Bayou City Fellowship is not going on vacation.

See you Sunday!

Pastor Curtis

Our crew is really missing BCF…with one of us having wisdom teeth out, another had surgery, and this week a trip back to Ohio to see our family, we will be missing (physically & emotionally) BCF for several weeks. We are so ready to get back there ASAP! The good news is, when you miss your church you know it’s “home.” :o ) In the meantime, we have attempted to download the sermon podcasts and we’re having some technical difficulties. If anyone is aware of a fix, we’re all ears. Looking forward to getting back there in a couple of weeks for the real deal!
